Helpful Tips for Attendees Traveling to Washington, DC

Metrorail
Washington, DC prides itself in its safe, efficient and clean public transportation system. The Metrorail system takes passengers throughout the DC, Virginia and Maryland areas via six color-coded metro lines: Red, Orange, Silver, Blue, Yellow, and Green. The closest stop to the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center is Federal Triangle where the Orange, Silver and Blue lines can connect you to the rest of the DMV metro area. You can purchase a SmarTrip card online ahead of time or at any Metrorail station.
Taxis and ridesharing
DC has a number of taxi and ridesharing services available throughout the metro area. Hail any number of cabs around the city. All taxis in DC take major credit cards or you can pay by cash. You can also download the Uber or Lyft app from your app store prior to your arrival in DC for quick and easy door-to-door car service.
Rental cars, driving and parking
All of the major rental car companies have locations in DC with most available at the airports. Valet parking is available at the JW Marriot for guests. The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center has a parking garage available that is open 24 hours a day. You can access the parking garage via ramps at 14th Street (north and south ramps) and 13½ Street (off Pennsylvania Ave.)
Walking and Biking
Walking can often be the most efficient way to get around DC, but of course, if two wheels is your preferred option, there are a number of services available to help. Capital Bikeshare has more than 4,300 bikes available at close to 500 stations across five jurisdictions: Washington, DC; Arlington, VA; Alexandria, VA; Montgomery County, MD; and Fairfax County, VA. For just $2 a trip, or $8 for a 24-hour pass, Capital Bikeshare is an affordable and easy way to get from point A to point B.
